John Michel
A fallen-away oboist and crazed record collector, John Michel graduated from St. John's University in 1973 with degrees in English and German. From 1977 - 1995 he worked for Minnesota Public Radio (MPR) as announcer, music librarian, programmer, and finally as its music director. John joined the Forum staff in 1996.
He was the executive producer of the Forum's independently-produced radio feature Composers Datebook from 1999 - 2001, scripted a new three-year cycle of daily features co-produced with MPR during 2002 - 2004 (currently in syndicated repeats via American Public Media), and is currently writing 50 new Composers Datebook installments funded by the College Band Directors National Association devoted to contemporary and classic wind band repertory for broadcast during 2010 - 2012.
John edited ACF's former print newsletter Sounding Board from 1998 - 2011. He maintains the Opportunities webpage for ACF and the Composers Datebook website and daily Composers Datebook eNewslette for MPR/American Public Media.
He also works Jay Walters to maintain the ACF membership database and process new and renewing ACF memberships.
