RITUALS: East/West

Eastern culture and western tradition collide in RITUALS: East/West, featuring the world premiere of Philadelphia composer Andrea Clearfield's Tse Lo Ga (At the Threshold of this Life) and the magnificent Fauré Requiem.Inspired by her 2008 and 2010 journeys to the Himalayan mountains of Nepal to record the traditional music, Clearfield's commission represents a unique collaboration between Mendelssohn Club, the Pennsylvania Girlchoir, Philadelphia Tibetan community, and the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia. Tse Go La incorporates Tibetan melodies from Lo Monthang, Nepal and new poetry by Sienna Craig. The program will also include members of the Tibetan community of Philadelphia performing traditional song and dance.
