Introduction:
"Rain Worthington's music take[s] ideas of American musical style to a new place - like a walk in a familiar, yet very different park... And isn't afraid to come up with its own startling conclusions." --Kyle Gann
Biography:

Rain Worthington's work touches the human heart with emotionally evocative music that is nuanced, delicate, powerful and transporting. Her music has been heard in loft concerts, performance spaces and dance clubs, to orchestra recordings in Europe and chamber concerts in India. World music, romanticism and minimalism have influenced her compositional style.

PARMA recorded a second of Rain’s orchestral pieces, Of Time Remembered, with the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra for a 2012 release on PARMA/Navona Recordings. The first PARMA recording of Rain’s orchestra music was Tracing a Dream, recorded with the Russian Philharmonic Orchestra with Conductor, Ovidiu Marinescu, and released 2011. Her orchestral compositions are also released on CDBaby. Pianist, Max Lifchitz has recorded Rain’s piano music for North/South Recordings.

Zeitgeist, Third Wheel, Englewinds, DoubleEntendre, Ricochet Duo and the North/South Chamber Orchestra have premiered her chamber music. Her composition entry was awarded 1st Prize in the Anton Stadler Competition. Rain’s music has been featured in articles by music journalists, Kyle Gann and Joseph Dalton, and has been reviewed in the American Record Guide, IAWM Journal, Fanfare, and MusicWeb-International.

Artist Statement:

I am strongly committed to music’s unique capacity to communicate and distill emotions. I believe music that plays to a deep, non-simplistic, emotional response has an extraordinary capacity to engage the listener in a dialog of compassion, understanding and acceptance. It is my hope that my compositions can similarly touch the heart with emotionally evocative music that is nuanced, delicate, powerful and transporting.
