I am currently a junior at Edina High School in Minnesota--I'm planning on applying for a conservatory music composition program next year. I have been composing since I was in fourth grade. I currently take piano and composition lessons from Minnesota composer Wynn-Anne Rossi. I've written for a variety of ensembles and instruments, including piano, violin, cello, viola, and clarinet. I love music and my favorite composers are currently Philip Glass, Bartok, Ligeti, and Debussy. I compose mainly classical music, but I have scored music for a school play and a classmate's film project. I have been playing piano for 12 years and singing for three. I have also played the violin for 7 years and play in my school's orchestra.
Scenes from a Carnival: A Theme and Variations for piano
The Diviners (play score for two violins and cello)
Prelude (for violin, Bb clarinet, and cello)
I write music that balances on the fine line between tonality and atonality, including aspects of both. My music is interesting and different, but not completely out of left field. I love melody.
