Biography

 

Luca Pasquini (b. 2004) is an award-winning composer/pianist from Denver, Colorado. He is currently studying piano and composition at Denver School of the Arts HS. He also is privately studying piano with Brad Marcotte and composition with Leanna Kirchoff. Luca is a member of the Denver Young Artist Orchestra, the Denver School of the Arts Orchestra, and is Vice-President of DSA's Tri-M Music Honors Society. His music has been performed by the Ben Thompson trio, Chamber Project St. Louis, the Julius Quartet, and was chosen twice to be featured in the Playground Ensemble's Colorado Composer's Concert as the K-12 Winner. Luca was a WFMC and Western Region winner in the National Federation of Music Club's Junior Composer Contest and placed 2nd overall on the National Level. He was a part of the 2020 Boston Conservatory at Berklee’s Summer High School Composition Intensive, and the 2021 Atlantic Music Festival Composition Program, and has studied with Jim Dalton, Jonathan Bailey Holland, and Mischa Salkind-Pearl, David Werfelmann, and Reiko Fueting. Luca won third prize at the Illinois University Young Composers Contest, placed 1st at Webster University's CMS Young Composers Competition, and was a Marvin Hamlisch Award Winner in the Youth Classical Composition Division. Recently, Luca received an Honorable Mention at both the 2021 ASCAP Morten Gould Young Composer Awards as well as the 2021 Tribeca New Music Young Composer's Competition.
