Mariana Gomez Akolt is an Argentine-American composer, pianist and visual artist based in Chicago, Illinois. She composes descriptive and evocative music which is influenced by her upbringing in Buenos Aires. Her interests in South American rhythmic patterns and music instruments are infused in her compositions. Mariana graduated cum laude from University of Colorado with a B.S in Business Administration. In addition, she holds an Associates in Piano Performance from Harold Washington College and a M.M in Composition from Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Arts. Her compositions have been featured in conferences and festivals around the country as well as abroad. As a performer, Mariana is a member of the Handbell and Choir ensembles at The Chicago Temple.
