Rich Campbell is a New York City based composer, musician, teacher and actor.


Awarded 2019 fellowship by Virginia Center for Creative Arts. "Golden Apples Of The Sun" (SATB) 2019 award from Celebration Singers (NJ). "In Those Years, No One Slept" (SATB) is a 2018 award winner from the Uncommon Music Festival. "We Will Shine Like The Sun" (SA/piano) is a 2018 award winner from the Hong Kong Children's Choir. "All The Whiskey In Heaven" (TTBB) is a 2017 winner of an award from the Harrisburg Gay Men's Chorus. "Heaven" (SATB) is a 2016 winner of the Manhattan Choral Ensemble's competition; they presented the world premiere on February 27. "Heaven" was also a winner of a Georgia College competition; they presented the European premiere on their '16 tour. Rich is the 2015 winner of the Ruth Boshkoff Composition Prize from the Organization of American Kodály Educators. The OAKE National Childrens Choir world premiere of "The Wind": March 12, 2016. "If I Can Sing, I Still Am Free," (SATB/piano) winner of SACRA/PROFANA competition; world premiere by them in San Diego, July, 2014. "Celebrate A New Day" (SSA) winner of a competition & received its world premiere by the Australian Boys Choir in August, 2014. "If Ever There Is" (SATB) selected for the 2013 Essentially Choral Sessions in Minneapolis, and premiered by the Director's Chorus at the 2014 Southern ACDA Conference. "Coney Island" (SATB) world premiere 5/21/11 by Manhattan Choral Ensemble; winner of competitions sponsored by the Manhattan Choral Ensemble and the Kansas City choir Octarium, who gave it's midwest premiere in March, 2012. "Apple Pie" (SATB w/piano) winner of 2014 Wasatch Chorale Ars Nova Emerging Composers Competition. "Winter Stars" (SSA) performed by MIT Women's Chorale, December, 2012. Selected as one of 15 composers for Center City Opera Theatre of Philadelphia's "Art Songs Of The 21st Century" concert.  "American Riffs," competition winner, 2012 premiere @ Indiana State Contemporary Music Festival.  "Come On In," (brass quintet) was a winner of a call for scores by the Washington Composers Forum. "Variations On A Groove," appears on the CD "Luteous" by the quintet Brass Initiative. As a songwriter, Rich has co-written songs on an album by The Triplets which was nominated for a Grammy. With Cadillac Moon, he co-wrote most of their two CD's, including the song "Show Me Your Tattoo," played in the film "Devil's Advocate." His "Smash Samba" is heard in the "Chemistry" episode of NBC's "SMASH." New Age pianist Christopher Peacock has included Rich's piece "Home Again" on the CD's "Destinations" and "Elements: Earth". Rich is a member of the New Dramatists Composer/Lyricist Studio. He collaborated with performance artist Erin Markey on her solo musical, Puppy Love, a Stripper's Tail, produced at Manhattan's Dixon Place, Hudson Guild Theatre, Green Room Theatre, & the 7th Annual soloNOVA Arts Festival at PS 122. Rich is an alumnus of the Crane School of Music, SUNY @ Potsdam, where he studied composition with Robert Washburn and piano with James Ball. Rich is a past winner of the Abe Ohlman Award from The Songwriter's Hall of Fame for Excellence in Songwriting.
