Ink Still Wet 2026 at the Grafenegg Festival invites composers to create a new orchestral work and conduct its premiere with the Tonkünstler Orchestra, under the guidance of Olga Neuwirth, Composer in Residence 2026. The workshop focuses on practical rehearsal work from the podium, close mentoring, and a public concert. Two phases shape the project: Part 1 runs April 21 to 24, 2026 in Grafenegg and Vienna. Part 2 runs August 14 to 22, 2026 in Grafenegg during the Festival. The closing concert takes place on August 21 in the Auditorium Grafenegg. Participation is fully funded. Support includes international travel, accommodation, local transfers, subsistence, and tickets for Festival concerts.

Eligibility
  • composers and composition students from any country and all backgrounds.
  • There is no age limit.
  • English is the working language.
  • Up to five participants will be selected.

  • Work for symphony orchestra
  • 2 minutes for application; 5-7 minutes for festival
  • Work may not be a previously submitted work

Recording Rights

There are NO exclusive performing rights of the work. Audio and video recording with free non-commercial use both for the composer and the organization. Probably also radio recording of Austrian public classical music radio Ö1.
