JACK Studio 2022
JACK Studio offers composers opportunities to develop new work, hear their music performed by JACK, consult with mentors in the field, and receive recorded documentation. Beginning with its 2022 cohort, JACK Studio will include two distinct opportunities: workshop sessions and two-year residencies. Here they are in a nutshell:
Workshop Sessions: recipients have existing works for string quartet read by JACK in 2023. The quartet will offer feedback and make professional audio and video documentation, to be used by the composers for academic and professional applications as well as non-commercial promotion.
Residencies: this two-year residency invites composers to work with JACK Quartet from 2022 through 2024, and is designed for experimentation and collaboration between the recipients and JACK. Composers-in-residence will receive a financial stipend, covered travel costs, workshop time, mentorship from leaders in the music world, professional documentation, and professional connections. While some composers may choose to include a premiere of work for string quartet within their residency, a final performance is not a requirement.
*Applications are due by midnight EST on JUNE 30, 2022.*
