The Mostly Modern Festival (MMF) Composition Program is a three-week intensive for up to 30 composers, ages 18+ at any stage of their careers at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY. Each composer receives a professional live performance and high-quality video/audio recording of a chamber work by American Modern Ensemble, Euclid Quartet, Mostly Modern Brass, or FAB5, working closely with the players in rehearsal, dress rehearsal, and concert. Participants receive lessons/meetings with composition faculty, access to all masterclasses, seminars, and festival events, plus VIP access to MMF concerts. Up to 15 composers may also apply for an orchestral reading (up to 7 minutes) with the Mostly Modern Orchestra; from these, two works will be selected for full rehearsal and performance. Tuition is $5,975, tiered application fee is $95 by Jan 15 and $125 by Feb 15. Scholarships, work studies, and fellowships are available.

Recording Rights

Professionally recorded, high-quality audio will be supplied to the composer for archival and promotional purposes. High-quality video will be produced, and a YouTube link will be provided to composers, who can embed it on their website and share it on social media platforms as desired.
