New York Dance & Arts Innovations: 4th International “New Vision” Composition Competition for String Quartet in memory of Krzysztof Penderecki

The 23rd International Chopin and Friends Festival in NYC proudly announce the The 4th International “New Vision” Composition Competition for String Quartet in memory of Krzysztof Penderecki. Submitted compositions will be judged by Argus String Quartet and students of Professor Penderecki: Zaid Jabri(Syria/Poland), Łukasz Pieprzyk(Poland), and Artistic Director of the Chopin and Friends Festival – Jakub Polaczyk (Poland/USA). The Grand Prize winner will be awarded a cash prize of $400.

Submission Guidelines


Eligible composers are those who are in the early to middle stages of developing an international career and for whom this prize would represent a significant career opportunity. Submitted works may have received premieres or/and performances in the past.

String Quartet

Compositions may not exceed 8 minutes in length.

Applications will be accepted via google forms:

Competition is anonymous. Composers may apply with 2 pieces under different pseudonyms.

Full score (PDF format only): composer’s name should not be on the score, as scores will be reviewed anonymously by composer’s pseudonym.

Paypal Receipt of application fee submission should be also included in the application.
Optional Audio recording of the piece (MIDI rendering is acceptable). Program notes of the piece and connection with the competition title.

Entry Fee:

Donation to NYDAI $20 each composition. Composers may submit up to 2 works (one in each category). Payment accepted online via PayPal under donation payment link on the NYDAI website. Please include your receipt through the application form with composition title.


Jury will choose First Prize, Second and Third, possible honorable mentions. First Prize winner will be performed during 23rd Chopin and Friends Festival in NYC, November 19, 2021 at the Polish Consulate in NYC by acclaimed String Quartet: Argus Quartet.


Submissions must be time-stamped by September 1, 2021, 11:59pm EST.
