Call for Submission: Online Composition Course reMusik.org 2025
XII ST. PETERSBURG INTERNATIONAL NEW MUSIC FESTIVAL

The Saint Petersburg Contemporary Music Center «reMusik.org», under the artistic direction of the composer Mehdi Hosseini, announces that the 12th St. Petersburg International New Music Festival is taking place from May 23rd — June 5th, 2025. The reMusik.org Festival is a point of intersection where the diverse world views of contemporary composers meet at a crossroad of musical paths that have emerged in the past few years.

The festival will take place at distinguished venues around the city, which includes the Mariinsky Theater Concert Hall, the New Stage of the Alexandrinsky Theater, New Holland, Masterskaya M. K. Anikushina, Sound Museum, St. Petersburg State Conservatory, and others venues in the city. Internationally-renowned musical collectives and soloists will be performing, such as ‘Ensemble Répons’, ‘Shanghai New Music Ensemble’, ‘Studio for New Music Ensemble’, ‘Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble’, ‘St. Petersburg Improvisers Orchestra’, ‘Vacuum string quartet’, ‘GAM-Ensemble’, ‘Chamber choir Festino’, ‘MolOt Ensemble’, ‘Maria Sadurdinova (piano)’, ‘Gerard Costes (trombone)’, ‘Gleb Khokhlov (violin)’, ‘Dmitry Shubin (electronics)’ and many other participants of the festival. Instead of relying on the form of traditional concerts, we will be offering master classes, pre-concert talks, scientific conferences, forums, presentations, educational lectures, and a variety of workshops.

The Composition Course will be held online. This creative composing lab is an exciting opportunity for young and emerging composers from around the world. Up to forty composers will be selected through a portfolio application process to meet and work with honors composers and internationally-acclaimed ensembles invited to this year’s festival.

During two weeks, the Composition Course gives participants access to distinguished composers, concerts, and masterclasses while affording each participant ample time to compose.
