Responsibilities: The University of Missouri School of Music seeks a Postdoctoral Teaching Fellow in Composition for the 2024-25 school year. This is a full-time, 9-month position with optional summer funding that is annually renewable based for up to 5 years. Based on experience, teaching duties may include teaching composition lessons and classes such as electronic music, aural skills, orchestration, composition seminar, songwriting, music production software, and recording technology at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Conducting or coaching the Mizzou New Music Ensemble may also be possible. The teaching load will be 12 load hours per semester. The successful candidate will play an active role in all the programs of the Mizzou New Music Initiative as preparation for a tenure-track faculty position in composition. They will also be expected to continue their research and creative work in new music.

Qualifications: Required qualifications include a DMA or PhD in composition and an ascending career in composition.

Rank/Salary/Benefits/Start Date: Salary is commensurate with experience. Minimum salary is $48,000, following MU’s policy for postdoctoral positions. Postdoctoral fellows are considered full-time employees and get a full benefit package, including health insurance.
