Enrique Crespo Composition Contest
Urubrass opens the call for submission to composers from all over the world, and all ages, to participate in the First Urubrass Composition Contest: Enrique Crespo. The piece must be originally written for a brass group (max.: 4 Horns, 4 Trumpets, 4 Trombones, 1 Euphonium, 1 Tuba) or any of its variants, and must include elements of South American expressions, whether of folkloric, popular, or new artistic expressions.
The duration of the piece must be within the time range of 3 to 10 minutes max. Pieces containing electronic or audiovisual elements and/or premiered before 2020, won’t be considered. Previously-performed works are eligible.
To participate, you must complete the registration form, pay the participation cost of US $20, and attach the payment screenshot, score, and audio reference or recording of the piece.
The prize for the winner consists of a recognition diploma at the Jazz a la Calle Festival in Mercedes, Uruguay, an audio and video recording of the piece, and its performance in all the activities of the festival.
The selected composer will have the option to come for the premiere and 2 days before it (Jan.12th-13th-14th, 2023); the festival will provide housing, meals, and local transportation, however, no travel cost from outside Uruguay will be covered.
The deadline for the reception of works is December 10th, announcing the winners on the 20th of the same month.
