2025 WCFH Call for Participation: Scholarly Symposium

The Women Composers Festival of Hartford embraces diversity of race, ethnicity, and ability. The mission of the Festival is to feature artists who identify as women, including transgender and gender-fluid individuals. The Festival is open to presentations from composers, performers, and speakers who are willing to confront gender and other intersecting identities in their work.

Applications for the 2025 Scholarly Symposium are open for papers, presentations, panels, and lecture-recitals on the subject of living or historical composers who identify as women, including transgender and gender-fluid individuals.

This Google Form must be submitted by 11:59pm ET on Sunday, September 8th 2024, complete with the application document found on our website (womencomposers.net/calls).  Applications for the Music Marathon & Scholarly Symposium submitted late may be considered on a case-by-case basis.   Decisions will be sent via email by Sunday, December 1st, 2024.  The Scholarly Symposium will be part of the 2025 Women Composers Festival of Hartford on Friday, February 28th and Saturday, March 1st, 2025 at Central Connecticut State University.

Selected participants are required to register for the festival. Participants may perform in person or submit a pre-recorded virtual contribution. Travel funding is not available.

There is a registration fee for a festival pass for all participants. Last year, it was $75 for professionals, $50 for students, adjunct faculty members, and seniors [ages 55+]. Please note: ensembles (quartet or smaller) performing on the marathon pay one fee for the group, but all members may attend both days of the festival. Other arrangements for larger ensembles can be made on a case by case basis.
