Memorial Episcopal Church in Baltimore, MD, is seeking choral works from North American composers to perform during Sunday worship service in the 2024-2025 calendar year. We welcome all composers in North America* to submit up to two works.

There is no age limit or entry fee.

Works can be submitted in two categories:
1) Introits, up to one minute in length, for SATB choir a cappella.
2) Anthems, between 2-4 minutes in length, for SATB choir a cappella, or with piano or organ.

Up to four works will be selected and performed in worship service during the 2024-2025 program year. Attendance at the performances is not required, and travel funds are not available. Composers will be supplied with a recording that they may use for non-commercial self-promotion of their work.

Requirements:

  • Pieces should be sacred and suitable for performance in a worship setting in the Episcopalian liturgy.
  • Text should be in English, Latin, Spanish, German, or French. Other languages are permissible as long as a pronunciation guide is available.
  • Pieces should be unpublished or self-published by the composer. Pieces may have received a prior performance. Pieces should not have been previously commercially recorded or recorded by a professional ensemble.
  • A cappella submissions must include a piano reduction.
  • Minimal divisi is acceptable in the soprano part.

*We’ll accept submissions from the USA, Canada, Mexico, Antigua & Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Grenada, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Nicaragua, Panama, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent & the Grenedines, Trinidad and Tobago, and all dependent territories of the aforementioned.
