His work has been hailed as "exciting" by WCCO, and MPR's State of the Arts said his music "evokes a kind of synesthesia". He has received grants and awards from Meet the Composer, American Composers Forum, American Music Center, ASCAP, the Jerome Foundation, Mardag Foundation and Abbott Northwestern Hospital Foundation. His music is available through Deer Grove Press. He currently lives in the Twin Cities with his lovely wife, Jennifer, their two brilliant children, and a ridiculously large collection of American comic books. More information is available online.
"I'm drawn to composition by the chance to play -- the puzzle making, the riddle solving, the tower building, and the joy of sharing it with others. For me, nothing is better than putting together that puzzle by building the individual pieces as you go, suspecting but never truly knowing what the final image will be - or even what it's supposed to look like - until everything is done."
