Literature In Music

This concert opens with the intoxicating, whirling Ascending Bird, co-written by American composer Colin Jacobsen and Persian composer Siamak Aghaei with Andrea Drury in Soprano. It is based on an ancient Persian parable of spiritual transcendence.

Mrs. Drury has performed as soloist with the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus as well as the Evansville Bach Singers. She has had a strong choral tradition and has had the privilege to sing under such renowned conductors as Robert Shaw, Paul Salamunovich, Rene Clausen (a ChoralQuest composer), Elmer Isler, Donald Bailey, Robert Young and Hillary Appfelstadt. She is also the conductor of the Trinity United Methodist Chancel Choir.
