soundSCAPE Composition and Performance Exchange gathers early-career participants and world-class faculty artists in Blonay, Switzerland to support young composers through the commissioning and performance of their works. Students of all backgrounds and nationalities are encouraged to apply. Open to composers, performers, and sound engineers ages 18 years and up. Come study with our faculty of contemporary artists at the top of their field in a warm and welcoming creative environment at the Hindemith Music Centre. The 2026 Festival runs from July 1–10, 2026. Tuition is $1,600; accommodation fees available.

Eligibility

  • 18 years or older
  • The majority of participants are currently enrolled in a music degree program, through the PhD level. Recent PhD and DMA graduates are encouraged to attend. Typical age range is from 20 to 35, however participation is not limited to this age group.

Application Materials 

Composers:

  • TWO works of any instrumentation/length, for evaluation only. Email score (pdf) and midi or mp3 recording of the piece.

Performers:

  • Live, unedited recordings of TWO solo contrasting works; any style/period. Submit recordings or links via email [mp3, SoundCloud, YouTube, Vimeo, etc).

Conductors:

  • Video of two conducted performances; pieces should be of contrasting styles, and one must feature a modern-to-contemporary work. Links to video via YouTube, Vimeo, etc. are preferred.
